August 20, 2014 - ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY OFFERS INFORMATIONAL SEMINAR ON MEDICARE BASICS
The Roselle Public Library will offer an informational seminar, “Medicare 101,” on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.  Insurance expert David Wylly will provide an overview of Medicare and how it works, as well as the important decisions that need to be made during the annual open enrollment period (October 15 – December 7, 2014).  The options for additional coverage, Medicare Supplements, Part D Drug Prescription coverage, and Advantage Plans, will also be discussed.  Register online at www.roselle.lib.il.us , or by phone (630 529-1641), or at the Roselle Public Library.  The Library is located at 40 S. August 20, 2014 - COLLEGE SEARCH TIPS FOR TEENS AND PARENTS AT ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY PROGRAM
The Roselle Public Library will host Thomas Jaworski of Quest College Consulting on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. with a free seminar that will provide high school families with tips and advice on how to start and breakdown the stressful college search process. August 20, 2014 - ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY PRESENTS “DEBATE” ABOUT CHICAGO’S FAVORITE FOODS
The Roselle Public Library will host authors Bull Garlington along with Lt. David Haynes on Sunday, September 28, 2104 at 1:30 p.m. for an entertaining “formal” debate about Chicago’s favorite foods, including the hot topic -- the “ketchup-vs-mustard on a hot dog” issue.  Copies of their book, Beat Cop’s Guide to Chicago Eats, will be available for signing after the program. August 6, 2014 - ENJOY MUSIC YOUR WAY AT THE ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Roselle Public Library provides many options for enjoying music this summer. Take advantage of new databases, and collections of concert DVDs and live performance music cds. The Roselle Public Library now offers free music downloads to patrons through the database, Freegal Music 4.0 ®.  Freegal Music® features thousands of songs and artists to choose from, as well as music videos.  Using a Roselle Public Library card and pin patrons can download 5 songs per week (MP3 files), stream up to 3 hours of music or music videos a day and create playlists.  There are no returns – you keep the songs! August 6, 2014 - ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY STARTS OFF MUSICAL SUNDAY SEASON WITH SLIDE GUITARIST KRAIG KENNING
The Roselle Public Library’s Musical Sunday season begins on September 14, 2014, with a program featuring award-winning slide guitarist Kraig Kenning. A skillful dobro guitar player and passionate singer, Kraig performs contemporary folk, blues, roots rock, American fingerstyle, and classic Americana.
Musical Sundays are held from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. in the atrium of the library on the first floor. Patrons may enjoy a cup of coffee and cookies while they sit and listen to the program or go about their usual library activities.  No registration is required.

July 20, 2014 - MASTER GARDENERS ANSWER YOUR GARDENING QUESTIONS AT ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
The DuPage County Master Gardeners Help Desk returns to the Roselle Public Library this summer to answer gardening questions. Gardening experts from the University of Illinois Extension Services will be on hand in the Library from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014. There is no registration required for the session.
Information on annual and perennial flowers, trees, lawn care and other horticulture issues will be available. The Master Gardeners are a group of volunteers trained by University of Illinois Extension educators to provide a network of gardening and horticulture programs to educate the public. All information provided is based on research from the University of Illinois.

This summer Roselle Public Library will offer the ‘Grandparents Got Game!’ drop-in programs where grandparents or grand-friends can play, create and explore with their grandchildren. ‘Grandparents Got Game!” is held Wednesday afternoons (1:30-3:00 p.m.) from June 11 through August 6. Each session features tables of board games, crafts, snacks and fun science activities. This program is funded by The Friends of the Roselle Public Library.

June 20, 2014 - Summer Patron Appreciation -- Free Ravinia Tickets
A limited number of complimentary tickets will be available on a first come first serve basis courtesy of the Roselle Public Library and Ravinia Festival. These tickets are for select dates in Ravinia’s Classical Series. Tickets available are for Lawn Admission and are good only for the date listed on the tickets.
Ravinia Festival is the oldest outdoor music festival in North America and is lauded for presenting world-class music. The festival attracts about 600,000 listeners to some 120 to 150 events that span all genres from classical music to jazz to music theater over each three-month summer season. June 20, 2014 - Youth Services Summer Storytime Sessions
The second summer session of Storytime Programs at the Roselle Public Library begins Tuesday, July 8 and continues through Thursday, July 24. The session theme is “Crash, Bang, Boom!” Registration began on Tuesday, May 27.
Sessions are divided up by age group and children must be the required minimum age by the date the program session begins. Choose the one that is right for you and your child!

  • “Tots & Tykes”, Tuesdays 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (6-19 months) with parent participation.

  • “Toddler Tales”, Tuesdays 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. (20-35 months) with parent participation.

  • “Preschool Storytime”, Wednesdays 10:00-10:30 a.m. (ages 3-5 years).

  • Two drop-in Storytime sessions are held during the week and are open for families with children of all ages. They are held on Tuesdays, 6:30-7:00 p.m. and Thursdays, 10:30-11:00 a.m. No registration is required for the drop-in sessions.

Drop by and see the latest in technology at the Roselle Public Library on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Watch a demonstration of a 3D printer presented by Workshop 88, a makerspace located in Glen Ellyn. A 3D printer goes beyond an image on paper and brings objects to life in real 3D. Layer by layer, the 3D printer can replicate images created in Computer Aided Design programs. The DuPage County Master Gardeners Help Desk returns to the Roselle Public Library this spring and summer to answer gardening questions. Gardening experts from the University of Illinois Extension Services will be on hand in the Library from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Mondays, June 16, July 21 and August 18, 2014. There is no registration required for the sessions.
Information on annual and perennial flowers, trees, lawn care and other horticulture issues will be available. The Master Gardeners are a group of volunteers trained by University of Illinois Extension educators to provide a network of gardening and horticulture programs to educate the public. Students in grades 6 – 12 can celebrate summer a with a tie-dye program, “Fit To Be Tie-Dyed!” at the Roselle Public Library on Thursday, June 19, 2014. There will be a program session from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and another session from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Please register for only one session. All tie-dying supplies will be donated by Roselle Library. Participants should bring an item to be tie-dyed such as a white t-shirt, or other white article of clothing (sweatshirt, socks, or tank tops). The summer session of Storytime Programs at the Roselle Public Library begins Tuesday, June 10 and continues through Thursday, July 24. The session theme is “Crash, Bang, Boom!”
Registration begins Tuesday, May 27.
Sessions are divided up by age group and children must be the required minimum age by the date the program session begins. Choose the one that is right for you and your child!

  • “Tots & Tykes”, Tuesdays 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (6-19 months) with parent participation.

  • “Toddler Tales”, Tuesdays 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. (20-35 months) with parent participation.

March 6, 2014 - ‘Just Right Chair’ Program
Help us find the “Just Right” Chair!
The Roselle Public Library has embarked on a project to replace the worn, stained, and in some cases – falling apart – furniture in the Adult Services and Teen Areas of the Library. We are receiving “samples” of various styles of chairs to test for comfort. Beginning Monday, February 10 ending on Saturday, March 15, 2014, we are asking our Library users and Roselle residents to visit the Roselle Public Library and “test sit” in the samples available – and vote for their favorites. Ballots will be provided at the Circulation Desk. Return your filled out ballot and become eligible for a drawing for a gift card. There will be 5 Dunkin Donuts $5.00 gift cards awarded. We are receiving chairs from various manufacturers – so don’t just stop by one time, come in regularly to see what sample chairs have been added – and vote again.

The DuPage County Master Gardeners Help Desk returns to the Roselle Public Library this spring and summer to answer gardening questions. Gardening experts from the University of Illinois Extension Services will be on hand in the Library from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Mondays, April 14, May 19, June 16, July 21 and August 18, 2014. There is no registration required for the sessions.
Information on annual and perennial flowers, trees, lawn care and other horticulture issues will be available. The Master Gardeners are a group of volunteers trained by University of Illinois Extension educators to provide a network of gardening and horticulture programs to educate the public. The spring session of Storytime Programs at the Roselle Public Library begins Tuesday, March 18 and continues through Thursday, April 24. The session theme is “Must Be Magic”. Registration begins Monday, March 3.
Sessions are divided up by age group and children must be the required minimum age by the date the program session begins. Choose the one that is right for you and your child!

  • “Tots & Tykes”, Tuesdays 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (6-19 months) with parent participation.

  • “Toddler Tales”, Tuesdays 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. (20-35 months) with parent participation.

  • “Preschool Storytime”, Wednesdays 10:00-10:30 a.m. or 1:00-1:30 p.m (ages 3-5 years).

Roselle Public Library District is participating in eRead Illinois, a new two-year statewide program designed to increase access to eBooks across Illinois. This fast-growing eBook collection includes titles for people of all ages and all interests. It complements and extends the Library’s existing collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks for adults, children and teens.
eRead Illinois is accessible 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. All you need is a computer or mobile device with an Internet connection and your Roselle Library card and PIN.
“The Roselle Public Library is pleased to offer eRead Illinois as a part of our services and collections for our cardholders. This new service increases the number and availability of digital titles, both fiction and nonfiction, for those desiring to read via an eReader device or listen to a book,” said Amy Cawley, Executive Director of the Roselle Public Library District. “The Library is pleased to have the opportunity to participate in eRead Illinois, a program made possible through a partnership between the Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS), the Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) and the Illinois State Library. Initial funding for eRead Illinois was provided by a grant from Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White through the Illinois State Library.”

The second fall session of Storytime Programs at the Roselle Public Library begins Tuesday, November 5 and continues through Thursday, December 12.  The session theme is “Color ME Purple”. 
Registration begins Monday, October 21.
Sessions are divided up by age group and children must be the required minimum age by the date the program session begins.  Choose the one that is right for you and your child! 
·         “Tots & Tykes”, Tuesdays 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (6-19 months) with parent participation. 
·         “Toddler Tales”, Tuesdays 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. (20-35 months) with parent participation. 
·         “Preschool Storytime”, Wednesdays 10:00-10:30 a.m. or 1:00-1:30 p.m. (ages 3-5 years).

Roselle Public Library will host its annual Model Railroad Showcase on Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Model railroading enthusiasts display collections, running layouts and railroad memorabilia for this popular family event. The Showcase features extensive running layouts operated by the Midwest Division of Train Collectors Association, the Northwest Trainmasters, and The British Train Society, exhibits and collections from the Illinois Railway Museum, the Milwaukee Road Historical Society, and the Chicago & Northwestern Historical Society as well as layouts from local hobbyists. Children, ages 4-7, are invited to listen and participate in thematic stories, songs and fingerplays. Make a special craft to take home. This program is designed to help prepare younger primary students for the start of a new school year. “Wheels on the Bus” is Wednesday, August 7 at 10:30 a.m. Registration begins Monday, July 29.

July 6, 2013 - LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE GRANDKIDS THIS SUMMER? CHECK OUT ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY’S “GRANDPARENTS GOT GAME” PROGRAMS!
This summer Roselle Public Library will again offer the ‘Grandparents Got Game!’ drop-in programs where grandparents or grand-friends can play and create with their grandchildren. ‘Grandparents Got Game!” is held on Wednesday afternoons (1:30-3:00 p.m.) from June 12 through August 7. Each session features tables of board games, craft activities and a snack. No registration is necessary for any session.

July 6, 2013 - LEARN THE BASICS OF FANTASY FOOTBALL AT ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
This August the Roselle Public Library will offer a program series on the basics of fantasy football beginning on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. with “Fantasy Football 101.” The next seminar, “Fantasy Football 201” follows on Thursday, August 15 at 7:00 p.m. and a “Fantasy Football Draft” takes place on Wednesday, August 21at 7:00 p.m. Registration for this series is free, but participants need to be 16 years old or older. July 6, 2013 - MASTER GARDENERS ANSWER YOUR GARDENING QUESTIONS AT ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
The DuPage County Master Gardeners Help Desk returns to the Roselle Public Library this summer to answer gardening questions. Gardening experts from the University of Illinois Extension Services will be on hand in the Library from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Mondays, July 15 and August 19, 2013. There is no registration required for the sessions.
Information on annual and perennial flowers, trees, lawn care and other horticulture issues will be available. The Master Gardeners are a group of volunteers trained by University of Illinois Extension educators to provide a network of gardening and horticulture programs to educate the public. All information provided is based on research from the University of Illinois.

July 6, 2013 - TEENS LEARN TO KNIT AT ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
New and experienced knitters, in grades 6 – 12, are invited to join the Roselle Public Library’s Teen Knits club. Teen Knits will meet Monday, July 22, 2013 and Monday, August 12, 2013 with special extended summer hours from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. in the library conference room. Knitting supplies are provided as well as refreshments. Students can join the group at any time. No registration is required for this year-round club.
